“What do you call a homeless woodwind?”/“A hoboe.”

An “oboe” (a woodwind instrument) should not be confused with a “hobo.” “Hoboe” (hobo + oboe) was entered in the Urban Dictionary on July 21, 2006.

Wikipedia: Oboe
Oboes (/ˈoʊboʊ/ OH-boh) are a family of double reed woodwind instruments. The most common oboe plays in the treble or soprano range. Oboes are usually made of wood, but there are also oboes made of synthetic materials.

Urban Dictionary
hoboe
n. An instrument generally featured in an orchestra that travels because its members do not maintain permanent addresses. Known for its many variations, this woodwind may be constructed of cardboard, cans, duct tape, soda bottles, newspaper, or any combination thereof. The key criterion is whether or not its tone is successful in separating passersby from extraneous coinage.
“There was a fine hoboe soloist on the corner of 83rd and 2nd last night.”
