“Why can’t you carry unlimited pickles in video games?”/“You’re over-cucumbered.”

The term “encumbance” has nothing to do with cucumbers, but there are jokes. “Enumbrance” is a video game term defined in The Long Dark Wiki as “a player statistic that represents the total amount of weight the player can carry.”

A riddle was posted on Reddit—3amjokes on February 2, 2021:

Q: Why can’t you carry unlimited pickles in video games?
A: You’re over-cucmbered.

“Over-cucmbered” is probably a typo of “over-cucumbered.”

The Long Dark Wiki
Encumbrance is a player statistic that represents the total amount of weight the player can carry.

Players can see the total weight of the items they are carrying on the Backpack screen from the Status game menu. This will include items they have equipped as well as those carried in the inventory. The Backpack screen truncates the amount of weight to two decimal places.

My char (gnome fighter/illusionist): “I’m eating a cucumber.”
DM: “WHY do you have cucumbers?”
Me: “Remember, I bought them in the village since I had some room left below my enCUMBRANCE limit.”
Whole table: “Groan.”
