“An Educated Consumer Is Our Best Customer” (Syms Clothing)
Syms is a friendly clothing store on East 54th Street and Park Avenue. Syms advertised for years that it had a markdown system, not "sales." If a product didn't sell, its price was reduced until it would sell.
"An educated consumer is our best customer" is Syms's long-running slogan.

He and others echoed the slogan of their competitor Syms Inc. that "an educated consumer is our best customer," asserting that increasingly sophisticated shoppers were less willing to support the high markups and expenses of conventional retailers.
