“Burritos brought to life!” (Blockheads)
The Blockheads chain has six Manhattan restaurants. It's famous for its inexpensive Mexican food and its $3 frozen Margaritas. "Burritos brought to life!" is its not-too-popular slogan.

5 January 1997, New York Times, "Burritos Creep North With Mexican Takeout Diner," pg. CY4:
Two brothers originally from the Bronx, Don and Ken Sofer, have been at opposite ends of the restaurant business.

Don Sofer, 36, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, worked in the kitchens of Windows on the World and La Cote Basque. His brother, Ken, 43, opened BeNny's Burritos, two Mexican takeout places in Greenwich Village.

This week, combining their experiences, they will open Blockhead's Mexican Diner, at 954 Second Avenue between 50th and 51st Streets, which they call "a Greek diner with Mexican food." It will serve breakfast all day seven days a week, as well as lunch, dinner and takeout. "Ten years ago you never thought of Mexican food as takeout," Ken Sofer said.

The 35-seat restaurant will be the second Blockhead's; the first is at 499 Third Avenue, between 33d and 34th Streets. Both serve California-style Mexican cuisine: burritos, rolled tortilla sandwiches, burgers, salads and salmon and portobello mushroom fajitas. Entrees range from $3.50 to $9.95.
