“Chokelahoma” (choke + Oklahoma) is an unflattering nickname for the state of Oklahoma, more usually for just Oklahoma University. The nickname is used most often at the Texas-Oklahoma football game known as the Red River Rivalry. The nickname began about 1988, when Oklahoma lost the NCAA basketball championship game to Kansas.
 
Zero U. is another nickname for Oklahoma University.
