Gang Green (New York Jets nickname)
Somewhat later than "Big Blue" (Giants) came "Gang Green" (Jets). The nickname comes from the green color of the Jets' uniforms and logos. Although "Gang Green" sounds like the serious medical condition of "gangrene," the "Gang Green" nickname is not derogatory.

The nickname had been used in the 1980s, but has been used regularly since 1990.

Wikipedia: New York Jets
The New York Jets are a professional American football team headquartered in Florham Park, New Jersey, representing the New York metropolitan area. The team is a member of the Eastern Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). In a unique arrangement for the league, the Jets share MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey with the New York Giants. The franchise is legally and corporately registered as New York Jets, LLC.

The team was founded in 1959 as the Titans of New York, an original member of the American Football League; later, the franchise joined the NFL in the merger of the AFL and the NFL.

Wikipedia: Gangrene
Gangrene is a serious and potentially life-threatening condition that arises when a considerable mass of body tissue dies (necrosis). This may occur after an injury or infection, or in people suffering from any chronic health problem affecting blood circulation. The primary cause of gangrene is reduced blood supply to the affected tissues, which results in cell death. Diabetes and long-term smoking increase the risk of suffering from gangrene.

W.R.T. how old we have to be to remember Gang Green (as opposed to Philly's nouveau Gang Green), I think the Packer defense took that nickname in the late 70s or early 80s, quite possibly one of the two years they were at the top of the division,
