“If you ate pasta and antipasta, would you still be hungry?”

“If you ate pasta and antipasta, would you still be hungry?” is a humorous saying, dating to at least February 1998. Other spellings are “If you ate pasta and antipasto, would you still be hungry?” and “If you ate pasta and antipasti, would you still be hungry?” The joke centers on pasta and “anti-pasta” (against pasta), but “antipasto” means the course “before pasta.”
 
The saying has been credited to comedian Geroge Carlin (1937-2008) since 1999, but the website GeorgeCarlin.com states that the joke (one of several in joke lists attributed to Carlin) is not George Carlin’s.
