Ken-Taco-Hut

Yum! Brands licenses KFC (a fried chicken franchise restaurant), Taco Bell (a Tex-Mex franchise restaurant), Pizza Hut (a pizza franchise restaurant), Long John Silver’s (a seafood franchise restaurant) and several other bands. The restaurants are often combined together to give customers more food choices. The combination restaurants were officially called “All ‘n One” in 1990.

The restaurant combination of KFC + Taco Bell + Pizza Hut has been called “Ken-Taco-Hut” (or “KenTacoHut”) since at least 1992. The restaurant combination of KFC (represented by Colonel Sanders) and Taco Bell has been called “Colonel Sanchez” since at least 2004.

Double-Tongued Dictionary

Subjects: English, Food & Drink, Slang

Citations:
1992 Steve Everly Kansas City Star (Mo.) (July 4) “Its name doesn’t fly, but eatery stays” p. B7: It was called All ’n One because Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and KFC restaurants were all under one roof. But the official name didn’t last long with teen-agers. They soon nicknamed it the Ken-Taco-Hut and still call it that.

Slang term used by CMU students (as opposed to Pitt students, who say “KF Taco Hut”) to refer to a new fast-food eatery that just opened up on South Bouquet Street. Basically, it is a combination of KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut, with a menu taken from portions of each restaurant’s offerings. The novelty factor is that you can order pizza, fake Mexican food, and fried chicken on the same order. It also takes Pitt funds, an added plus for Pitt students.

Urban Dictionary

Or like the one in one of the several military bases in San Diego, where there’s a combination KFC, Taco Bell *and* Pizza Hut.  It’s known affectionately as the “Kentucky Taco Hut.”

I’m sorry. These things exist. They’ve sprouted up like weeds (and not the good kind) in the Chicago area and a good portion of the Midwest. They are now starting to take over Interstate travel plazas, too. They exist in various permutations: Kentucky Fried Taco, Dunkin Robbins, Pizza Bell, and, as you mention, KenTacoHut. They are vile vile vile.
