Pantondo
Bond 45 (the new restaurant at the former Bond's clothing store on West 45th Street near Broadway) offers its trademark "pantondo."

It's $22 for cheese bread, I guess.
...

23 February 2005, New York Post, "Bond 45 Suits the Spot" by Steve Cuozzo, pg. 46:
Cheese-filled focaccia called "Pantondo" comes in 15-inch ($18) and 23-inch ($24) sizes. It's a must: a pizza-like round crisp as candy, golden browned and full of gooey mixed cheese and unexpected hollows that add to the fun.

11 March 2005, New York Daily News, "Bond 45 Puts the Past in Pasta" by Pascale le Draoulec, pg. 63:
BOND 45. 154 W. 45th St. (bet. Sixth and Seventh Aves.), (212) 869-4545. Open for lunch and dinner daily. Antipasti: $5-$21.50; pasta, entrees: $9-$36.50. All credit cards. Reservations recommended, especially for pretheater. 2 Stars.

In the 1940s New Yorkers flocked to 154 W. 45th St. for its wide selection of men's pants.

Now, pantondo's the draw. What was once Bond Clothing Store, home of 26,000 suits, has become Bond 45, home of nearly 26,000 antipasti, including the crispy cheese-filled focaccia wheel known as pantondo. The restaurant claims to be the only one in the country serving this specialty, having shipped a $100,000 bread oven in from Italy.

11 April 2005, Nation's Restaurant News, "N.Y. restaurateur Fireman debuts newest concept, Bond 45" by Milford Prewitt:
New York Most restaurant goers probably never have heard of pantondo.

In fact, even some of the most authoritative and most widely used food dictionaries, don't offer a definition or description of the obscure, pizzalike product let alone a suggested spelling.

But Shelly Fireman, president of Café Concepts Inc., is working to change that.

Fireman, who owns a home in Tuscany, Italy, the place where pantondo originates, has put the thin, crispy, cheese-filled focaccia pie, which is served without tomato sauce, as a signature dish in his newest restaurant here, Bond 45.

Fireman said he believes that Bond 45 is the only restaurant in the United States currently serving the product. He also has trademarked the name.

Chiefly served as an appetizer, pantondo seemingly is ideal for weight-conscious and carb-conscious lovers of Italian cuisine.

8 May 2005, New York Daily News, 24 magazine, Q&A with restaurateur Shelly Fireman, pg. 46:
Q: What's your signature dish?
A: I have so many favorite and signature dishes. Right now my new favorite is the Pantondo at Bond 45, a delicate cheese focaccia from Liguria.
