Pot Princess
The New York Post quickly dubbed Julie Diaco the "Pot Princess." She's the former NYU student who was convicted of selling drugs out of her dorm room. Her family paid for a very good lawyer, and the "Pot Princess" received an incredibly light sentence of probation.

Julie Diaco is reportedly using her "street cred" to break into the music business. The "Pot Princess" continues to make tabloid headlines and editorials.

It's not certain if the term "Pot Princess" will be applied to any other woman student who sells drugs, or if the nickname will be retired by the Post.

Pot Princess' Crack
Julia Diaco, the NYU freshman arrested last month for selling pot to an undercover police officer, will be charged with additional counts. The police found cocaine in her dorm room after they arrested her. This doesn't surprise Gothamist, as part of the initial arrest was for selling pot, cocaine, mushrooms, and LSD - of course she's have supplies at Hayden Hall!

NYU's "Pot Princess" Get Probation

Julia Diaco, who was busted for selling drugs, including cocaine, as an NYU freshman earlier this year, received 18 months probation from a State Supreme Court Justice. The terms of her probation are that she must complete a 10-month residential treatment program at Clear View in Sandpoint, Idaho and then an 8-month vocational program. The ruling gives clues into what happens with offenders who get probation: If she completes the Clear View residential program, Diaco's guilty pleas ["criminal sale of a controlled substance (to an undercover officer) and criminal possession of a controlled substance (cocaine found in her dorm room when a search warrant was executed"] will be "converted to crimes that don't require jail time," then receiving 5 years probation. But if she violated the probation, she'll have to go to state prision. Let that be a lesson to you new NYU freshman: You can get caught if you deal to undercovers.

The Post has been loving the Julia Diaco story since the beginning. They dubbed her the "Pot Princess" and today's headline, "See Ya Tater, Pot Princess" certainly has a bit of fondness for the co-ed drug dealer.

Pot Princess Saga Over
In a follow-up to one of Gothamist's favorite stories, it turns out that Julie Diaco, who was arrested while an NYU freshman for dealing pot out of her dorm room, will get probation. Diaco held up her end of a deal from September 2004: Completing a rehab program at Clear View and being clean for 18 months. Of course, back when the deal was arranged, people attributed the leniency to her family's wealth - after all, dealing coke, pot, LSD, mushrooms and more is a big deal - especially when it was obvious she was running a thriving business and happened that she was carrying pot and a scale when selling to undercover cops. Her lawyer said that Diaco is "is a very different person than she was 18 months ago" and attends a community college in NJ. Julie, we wish you well - maybe you'll find your way helping other drug offenders or addicts.

The Post officially dubs her the "Pot Hottie," noting that she was wearing knee-high leather stiletto boots and a pin-striped suit.
