State-Run Media (SRM)

“State run media” or “state-run media” (SRM) is an unflattering nickname that some have applied to the “mainstream media” (MSM). Totalitarian states (such as the Soviet Union with Pravda) have long had “state-run media.”

Conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh became frustrated with what he perceived as the MSM’s subservience to U.S. President Barack Obama. By June 2009, Limbaugh began using the “state-run media” term to apply to the American media. Limbaugh had been using the term “Drive-By Media” (DBM) since March 2006.

Similar terms include “Lame Stream Media” (LSM)“enchanted media,” “fringe media” and “past tense media.”

Wikipedia: Rush Limbaugh
Rush Hudson Limbaugh III (pronounced /ˈlɪmbɔː/; born January 12, 1951) is an American radio host, conservative political commentator, and an influential opinion leader in the conservative movement in the United States. He hosts The Rush Limbaugh Show which is aired throughout the U.S. on Premiere Radio Networks and is the highest-rated talk-radio program in the United States.

He was born into a family with a long history of involvement in Republican politics and first began working at a local radio station at age sixteen. In 1984, after a series of radio related jobs, Limbaugh began working as a radio talk show host in Sacramento, California. His unique program featured no guests, relying exclusively on his conservative political analysis for content. He moved to New York City in 1988 where he began the national broadcast of his program on WABC radio. His program grew in popularity and he began his rise to national fame.

In the 1990s, Limbaugh’s fame grew beyond radio, into publishing and television. He became a bestselling author with his books The Way Things Ought to Be (1992) and See, I Told You So (1993). From 1992 to 1996, Limbaugh hosted a half-hour television talk show.

Limbaugh is a controversial figure in American politics and media. He frequently accuses the American mainstream media of having a strong liberal bias, criticizes liberal policies and politicians, and promotes conservative positions.

Obama Claims He Won’t Run GM, Then Explains How He Will Run GM
June 1, 2009
RUSH: (...) You know what this guy is doing?  He is implementing his campaign agenda without regard for current economic circumstances.  ABC’s The Note today has an interesting little line as they were previewing this General Motors announcement today.  It’s written by Rick Klein: “Maybe an all-consuming Supreme Court fight wouldn’t be that bad after all,” they say, for Obama.  Remember, now, we’re talking with I think all but official state-controlled media.  Call it state-controlled, call it state-run, the media here is no different than the media Hugo Chavez has.  So forget Drive-By Media.  Forget mainstream media.  It is now-state controlled media by their choice.  The media is choosing to be controlled by the state, regardless how it happened it’s state-run media.  And so ABC’s The Note here: “Maybe an all-consuming Supreme Court fight wouldn’t be that bad after all,” to take attention away from this rotgut.

Obama Motors and other really bad ideas
(...)
This country is going down the toilet and no opposition is being heard. I heard Rush today refer to the media as the State Run media…..seems only too appropriate considering that no matter what happens, Obama smells like a rose while all of us suffer. This SUCKS!

‘State-Run’ Media of North Korea and USA Eerily Similar in Fawning Leader Coverage
By P.J. Gladnick
Wed, 06/03/2009 - 09:32 ET
Rush Limbaugh has recently begun referring to the mainstream media as the “state-run” media. Think he is exaggerating? Well, compare what we know to be the state-run coverage of the Korean Central News Agency of North Korea reporting on their Dear Leader with the coverage of Barack Obama by our own media and you decide.

God, Great Gasbag, you’re fast becoming a tired one-trick pony.
The only thing new on your show these days is you calling the media the state-run media.
You think with the money you’re getting paid you might put a little effort into producing a better product.

Rush: “State-Run” Media Will Not Challenge Obama
In the last installment of Sean Hannity’s interview with Rush Limbaugh, the talk radio host explains his view of conservatism and reacts to Obama’s trip to the Middle East. Limbaugh says the foundation of conservatism is freedom. Rush says you can’t recognize Republicans or conservatives in Congress today because they “seek approval” from political enemies.

State-Run Media: ABC Turns Over Its Network to Obama Propaganda
June 16, 2009
RUSH:  Getting tons of e-mail today, folks, from people who are surprised and upset over the news that ABC is turning over their network to President Obama.  Eight days from now, ABC’s World News Tonight will be broadcast from the Blue Room of the White House, and then they’ll do a special that night on health care, and everybody’s upset about it.  I predicted this! I predicted this back on March 26th.  And, by the way, ladies and gentlemen, ABC’s part of State-Run Media—What’s news about this?  I mean there’s no news here.  This is just a confirmation of what’s already going on.  ABC turning programming over to Obama, they did that back before Inauguration Day.
(...)
RUSH:  And that prediction has now manifested itself in truth.  ABC has turned over programming to Obama.  Eight days from now, the night of June 24th, the media and the government cement their relationship as one.  State-Run Media, ABC, will broadcast the World News Tonight from the Blue Room of the White House.  That will be followed by a prime-time special entitled Prescription for America, which will originate from the East Room, and it will exclude opposing voices on the debate.  1984.  I predicted this March 26th.  People say, “Why did you stop calling them the Drive-By Media and you start calling them the State-Run Media?” Well, this is why.  This is government-controlled media.  A prime-time special in the East Room after the news from the Blue Room and no opposing voices in the debate will be featured on the program.  The Republican National Committee Chief of Staff Ken McKay fired off a complaint to David Westin at State-Run ABC.

Thank you so very much. Dick Cheney is, imo, the most evil man in accomplished action in the world today. Seeing conservatives laud him as their spokesman is like watching Little Red Riding Hood trust the wolf to be her grandmother. Here’s hoping your article will go viral and, Cheney, the face of evil will be clearly identified as the wolf he truly is.

The MSM should be called the SRM: State Run Media. We do not have a free press in the SRM - but thank you for being the press for us today. Acting as the free press to report the truth is one of the highest forms of patriotism. For Cheney and the SRM, their so-called patriotism is their last refuge as scoundrels.

Godspeed on this article going viral on the net.

The State Run Media Template: Tea Party Protests & Now Town Hall Protests Are “Orchestrated”
8/5/09 | Laissez-Faire Capitalist

The template from the SRM (State Run Media) now appears to be “it’s all orchestrated.”

That is what they said about the Tea Party/Tax Day protests, and what they are now saying about the town hall protests. When conservatives have grass-roots level protests it’s all “orchestrated.”

It’s all orchestrated. Didn’t you know that?

Oh, by the way… if you don’t support Obama’s policies then you are a racist.

Why? Because the SRM says that, too.

And we all know that’s good enough.

See, I Told You So: ABC News Discovers Bam’s State-Run Media
February 15, 2011
RUSH: When was it, Snerdley, that I first incorporated the phrase State-Controlled, State-Run Media on this program?  It was shortly after Obama was immaculated, correct?  Was it even before the regime was immaculated?  All right, so it was with Obama.  It was Drive-By Media, but at some point, it was either just prior to the immaculation or just after that we incorporated the term State-Controlled Media, which as much of this program is, the cutting edge of societal evolution stuff.  Well, guess what?  ABC News, Devin Dwyer: “As the 2012 presidential campaign kicks into gear, President Obama’s White House media operation is demonstrating an unprecedented ability to broadcast its message through social media and the Internet, at times doing an end-run around the traditional press.”  The headline for ABC’s story is: “Obama’s Media Machine: State Run Media 2.0?”  Once again, ladies and gentlemen, it was I… in fact, we have a sound bite from 2009, June the 1st, just to demonstrate how far ahead of the curve I am and you are if you listen to this program.
