You’ll Love Lufkin (Lufkin motto/slogan)

“You’ll love Lufkin” is the motto/slogan of the city of Lufkin in east Texas. The Lufkin area has many trees and lakes and is being actively promoted as a retirement community. “You’ll love Lufkin” was part of a 1999 “See Texas First!” newspaper supplement and the title of two 2007 promotional videos on YouTube.

You’ll love Lufkin!
You’ll Love Lufkin! How many times during my youth I heard that phrase. The Chamber of Commerce has certainly gotten its money worth on that one. I think they’re probably still using it today.

Who would ever think that a small (just 26 square miles), East Texas town, lodged solidly behind the Pinecone Curtain, and a decade behind the Big City, would support the creation of so many postcards?

As with many things, the Internet has accelerated my postcard-collecting habit (I wouldn’t call it a hobby.) The automated searches on Ebay troll the thousands of postcards for sale to bring me these “gems.” This series will display postcards of landmarks and businesses around Lufkin over a wide range of years, so stick around, because You’ll Love Lufkin!
