“Always a Pleasure” (Nedick’s)
Nedick's was known for its orange juice and its hot dogs. It went out of business in New York city then was brought back about 2000 with the slogan "Always a Pleasure."

The name "Nedick's" is from "Neeley" and "Dickinson," two business owners.

RIESE RESTAURANTS BRINGS BACK CLASSIC NEW YORK CITY INSTITUTION NEDICK'S HOT DOG STAND
BIGGER AND BETTER THAN EVER JANUARY 15TH

New and Improved Nedick's to Include Classic Hot Dogs and Weiners from Across U.S.

[New York City, January 13, 2002] — Anyone who grew up in New York City between 1910 and the late 1970s is familiar with Nedick's, the chain of hot dog stands that blanketed the City and satisfied New Yorkers' appetites with great tasting hot dogs and its famous Orange Drink. On January 15, Riese Restaurants will resurrect the classic New York institution by opening a new and improved Nedick's hot dog stand—the first of several planned stands—on the lower level, 8th Avenue side of Penn Station.

"Nedick's is classic New York at its best," said Gary Trimarchi, President/Chief Operating Officer of Riese Restaurants. "Dennis Riese fully understands the incredible history tied into Nedick's as a city institution and quickly seized the opportunity to acquire the brand when it became available—we knew the public would welcome its resurrection like a long-lost family member. With the new Nedick's, we will provide the same quality, affordability and service that people remember, and expand on everything that made the original Nedick's stands so memorable."

The menu, which will partly be familiar to those who enjoyed Nedick's in the past, includes: the classic hot dogs on butter toasted New England style buns; free toppings like ketchup, mustard, and relish plus additional toppings ranging from chili, cheese, Chicago sport peppers and more; several varieties of French-Fries; and last but not least, Nedick's Famous Orange Drink. But what makes Nedick's better than ever is its new menu of hot dogs from across the United States—all with their authentic, regional ingredients—like: The Chicago, a classic Vienna Beef dog with mustard, relish, chopped onions, sport peppers, pickle spears, tomato and a dash of celery salt; or the Wisconsin Brat, a classic "Usinger's" Bratwurst with sauerkraut and mustard. Other doggie-delights include: the New York Deli Dog; the Philly Tube Steak; the Cincinnati Coney; the BLT Dog; the Texas Corn dog; the Californian; the Georgia Red-Hot; the Pushcart Pretzel Dog; and the New Jersey Ripper.

"The goal of the expanded menu is to give people a taste of the old and the new," said the man responsible for the menu selections, Jeffrey Segal, Riese Restaurants Corporate Chef/Director of Culinary Development. "In choosing hot dogs from other regions, we are able to provide customers with a totally new experience that, with the exception of traveling to a hot dog's area of origination, they would otherwise not be able to have."

Additionally, the new Nedick's will offer an omelette wrapper and egg sandwiches for breakfast, and two decadent dessert selections that are sure to keep people coming back for more. The first is a deep fried Twinkie and the second is the Wunderbar. A slice of cheesecake with graham cracker crust, dipped in premium dark chocolate, all on a stick like an ice-pop. This one-of-a-kind dessert has been enjoyed for many years in the Chicago, Illinois area and is exclusively available at Nedick's and no where else on the East Coast.

Founded in 1910, the Nedick's hot dog stand chain—made famous by its hot dogs and orange drink—was a staple in New York City life for over sixty years. Amassing over 100 stands throughout the City, the chain eventually disappeared in the late '70s/early '80s.

For 62 years The Riese Organization has continued its proud history of keeping the people of New York well fed. As the largest restaurant operator in Manhattan, The Riese Organization owns and operates over 100 restaurants in the New York City area and is one of the largest restaurant and real estate management companies in the Northeast. Included in its restaurant portfolio are such nationally known branded concepts as: T.G.I. Friday's, Houlihan's, Pizza Hut, KFC, and Tad's® Steaks. The Riese Organization has also developed its own successful proprietary concepts, including Martini's, Joe Franklin's Memory Lane Restaurant & Bar, Charley O's-Skybox Bar & Grill and the newly opened Times Square Grill.
