“Biology is the least of what makes someone a mother”

“Biology is the least of what makes someone a mother” is a popular Mother’s Day saying that has been printed on many images. American talk show host, producer and philanthropist Oprah Winfrey said this in an interview in Woman’s Day magazine in the 1990s; the date is uncertain, but it was probably about 1995.

I recently read a statement Oprah made several years ago when she said, “Biology is the least of what makes someone a mother.” And I agree.
