“Heroes work here” (slogan)

“Heroes work here” is a saying that has been printed on many images.

“It (a sign—ed.) reads: ‘Heroes Work Here’ in reference to the six squad members who worked last week on what is being called ‘Ground Zero,’ the remains of the World Trade Center towers that fell after the Sept. 11 terrorists attacks” was printed in The Daily News Journal (Murfreesboro, TN) on September 27, 2001.

The Walt Disney Company began a program to hire veterans in 2012. “Heroes Work Here” was the slogan.

The 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic resulted in formal declarations of “essential” workers and “non-essential” workers (who were sent home). Signs stating “Heroes Work Here” appeared at medical facilities in March 2020, but were also present in some supermarkets. “The hospital has signs posted outside of it saying ‘Heroes Work Here’ i love my job” was posted on Twitter by nyosha on March 21, 2020. “‘Heroes work here’ Spotted in the window of the @Raleys grocery store in South Lake Tahoe” was posted on Twitter by Marlei Martinez on March 24, 2020.

SMYRNA—The sign in front of Smyrna Rescue Squad’s Front Street headquarters has it all wrong.

It reads: “Heroes Work Here” in reference to the six squad members who worked last week on what is being called “Ground Zero,” the remains of the World Trade Center towers that fell after the Sept. 11 terrorists attacks.

Sign at the post office today: “Heroes work Here”.  As #911 approaches it made me think that the PO undervalue the word.

The college is conveying that appreciation at many hospitals, hospices and medical centers across the community and region, where it has placed signs that say “Heroes Work Here.”
