Bridgetown (Portland nickname)

The city of Portland has been nicknamed “Bridgetown” because of the many bridges crossing the Williamette river (11 bridges) and Columbia river (3 bridges). Deborah Betron founded Bridgetown Realty in 1979 and popularized the “Bridgetown” name. Other “Bridgetown” businesses include Bridgetown Printing (1985) and Bridgetown Coffee (1996).

Bridgetown
Portland is known as Bridgetown due to numerous bridges crossing the Willamette and Columbia rivers. The river width spanned varies from 850 to 7,850 feet (260 to 2,390 m), and all of the bridges also span shoreline roads, paths, or other ground at each shore. In total, there are eleven bridges over the Willamette, including eight in the central area, and three over the Columbia.

I founded Bridgetown Realty in 1979 with the desire to develop a local independent real estate company that would provide the highest level of professional client representation and foster an office atmosphere of cooperation and trust.  Each Bridgetown agent has been handpicked for our team based on their honesty and commitment to their clients’ best interests-- in short, they’re the kind of person you’ll want on your team too!
