A “cannaboutique” (cannabis + boutique) is a name for a marijuana shop. “Cannaboutique” was cited on Twitter on February 20, 2014. “Drove past a Cannaboutique today in Denver. New phrase to me” was cited on Twitter on January 16, 2015.
Caitlin Murphy, the marketing director of Colorado’s Emerald Fields, popularized the term in 2015.

“We love that community,” said Caitlin Murphy, the company’s marketing director. “We want to be a positive presence for Manitou Springs, and we want to bring a lot of good, positive business to the community.”
Emerald Fields has branded itself as a “Cannaboutique.” The business plans to have a warm, welcoming atmosphere, Murphy said.
