“Cooking tip: Wrap turkey leftovers in aluminum foil and throw them out”

American cartoonist and writer Nicole Hollander is credited with the popular Thanksgiving line:

“Cooking tip: Wrap turkey leftovers in aluminum foil and throw them out.”

It’s not known when Hollander first wrote this, but it was included in the book The Fifth and Far Finer than the First Four 637 Best Things Anybody Ever Said (1993) by Robert Byrne.

“A refrigerator is a place to store leftovers until they are old enough to throw out” and “I just wanna be rich enough to throw leftovers away after dinner instead of putting them in Tupperware and throwing them away a week later” are related sayings about leftovers.
