Crashiversary (crash + anniversary)

“Crashiversary” (crash + anniversary) is the anniversary of a crash. The word “crashiversary” was used in 2003 and in 2007 for the anniversaries of motorcycle and car crashes.

“Crashiversary” was used in September 2009 on the one-year anniversary of the September 2008 stock market crash. A Mark Fiore animated political cartoon, “Crashiversary,” popularized the financial use of the term.

Happy Crashiversary to Us!
The Wreckage: (Photo—ed.)
September 4, 2003. It was a Thursday night and my brother Eric and I were on our way home from church. He had his learner’s permit so I tossed him the keys after carefully loading my guitar into the hatchback next to some class notes from the courses I’d begun one week earlier.

Hamilton Nolan — The Way Live Now: Commemorating with hatred. One year ago on this day—or maybe over the weekend some time, or later this week…something—our economy collapsed, and recessionomics was born. Happy one year of suffering, for nothing!
