Environmental Pollution Agency (Environmental Protection Agency or EPA nickname)

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was formed in 1970 to protect human health and the environment. The Environmental Protection Agency has been nicknamed the “Environmental Pollution Agency” since at least 2000, when some critics believed that the EPA under President George Bush was too friendly to corporations and ignored environmental violations. The “Environmental Pollution Agency” nicknamed went viral in August 2015, when the EPA caused the Gold King Mine waste water spill on the Animas River in Colorado.

Other EPA nicknames include “Employment Prevention Agency,” “Environmental Persecution Agency,” “Environmental Poisoning Agency,” “Environmental Propaganda Agency” and “Extremely Pathetic Agency.”

Wikipedia: United States Environmental Protection Agency
The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA or sometimes USEPA) is an agency of the U.S. federal government which was created for the purpose of protecting human health and the environment by writing and enforcing regulations based on laws passed by Congress. The EPA was proposed by President Richard Nixon and began operation on December 2, 1970, after Nixon signed an executive order. The order establishing the EPA was ratified by committee hearings in the House and Senate. The agency is led by its Administrator, who is appointed by the president and approved by Congress. The current administrator is Gina McCarthy. The EPA is not a Cabinet department, but the administrator is normally given cabinet rank.

The EPA has its headquarters in Washington, D.C., regional offices for each of the agency’s ten regions, and 27 laboratories. The agency conducts environmental assessment, research, and education. It has the responsibility of maintaining and enforcing national standards under a variety of environmental laws, in consultation with state, tribal, and local governments.

I guess while George W. Bush and his cronies are focussing on busting a cap in Saddam’s ass, there’s really not much need to worry about other dumb issues, such as the economy, or the environment.

The Environmental Protection Agency needs to change its name to the Environmental Pollution Agency
By Samuel Vargo
The Environmental Protection Agency needs to change its name to the Environmental Pollution Agency. The acronym ‘EPA’ would still apply - with no changes needed - and the change would give the world a clearer view about what they’re all about.

The Animas River’s ugly toxic wash was at first believed to be 1 million gallons of a yellowish-orange, poisonous, sludgy liquid. On Sunday, Aug. 9, however, EPA officials overseeing the region of the Animas River area confirmed the actual count is more like 3 million gallons.

EPA Fail: 3 Million Gallons Of Mine Waste Let Loose In Colorado’s Water
By Elizabeth Kiefer
AUG 10, 2015 3:30 PM
A Colorado river is running orange after an EPA accident led to the water being contaminated by waste from an abandoned mine. According to the EPA, via CNN’s reportage, the spill was caused when a team entered the Gold King Mine near Durango and accidentally caused it to overflow into the Animas River.

The EPA — which has earned a new nickname, the Environmental Pollution Agency, among locals — will continue to monitor water samples downstream until it is able to affirm that contamination levels do not pose a threat to aquatic life.
