"Haloodie” (halal + foodie) is a term that appears to have been coined by Halal Food Festival founder Imran Kausar. “We had a little think about it and decided that you are all halal foodies.....so perhaps we should be calling you HALOODIES!!!” was cited on the Halal Food Festival’s Facebook on August 6, 2012. “Salaam to all the Haloodies out there!!” was on the Halal Food Festival’s Twitter on August 29, 2012.
“WELCOMING ALL HALOODIES!” is on the Halal Food Festival’s website. The Halal Food Festival features foods that can be eaten under Islamic law.
Ḥalāl (Arabic: حلال ḥalāl,"’permissible") is any object or an action which is permissible to use or engage in, according to Islamic law. The term covers and designates not only food and drink as permissible according to Islamic law, but also all matters of daily life. The opposite of this word is haraam.

Haloodie heaven: the Halal Food Festival opens in London
Exhibitors claim their piece of the halal-eating foodie market, showcasing organic meat, the knives to chop it with, hot dogs and non-alcoholic champagne
Friday 27 September 2013 12.40 EDT
Founder Imran Kausar, a doctor by trade, said his inspiration for the three-day event at Excel London, came from his struggle to find halal versions of non-south Asian food.
He dubbed the festival “the arrival of the haloodie” or the halal-eating foodie, craving high-end products. From organic meat to the knives to chop it with, even non-alcoholic champagne, the festival is designed to be a haloodie heaven. Aromas from around the world filled the exhibition hall as the smell of sizzling curries mingled with that of French cuisine, an Argentinian barbecue and halal hot dogs.
