Maprilay (May + April)

The 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic resulted in quarantines. For many people, the days and months blended together. “Blursday” (blurs + day) and “Maprilay” (May + April) are two portmanteau terms.

“Blah-day, Blues-day or Blurs-day?” was printed in the Miami (FL) Herald on May 30, 1986. “Dumbsday, Bkuesday, Endsday, Blursday, Cryday, Shatterday and Stunday” was printed in the Los Angeles (CA) Times on March 31, 1992. “Blursday” was entered in the Urban Dictionary on April 24, 2007.

“Classic #maprilay conversation” was posted on Twitter by Laura on April 8, 2011.

“For those who have lost track, today is Blursday the fortyteenth of Maprilay” was posted on Twitter by Kat McEwan on March 27, 2020. The saying has been printed on many images.
