The Rice University Neologisms Database has had an entry for “hodger” since 2008 and gives the etymology “derived from ‘hog’,” but the word could also be derived from “hedgehog” or “hodge.”

A hodger is a guest who actively consumes all the host’s food and drinks. You’re definitely not going to get invited to the Hamptons again if you continue this bad habit. Either be sly, lay off or show some respect. We’ve seen it a million times.
