“I can’t believe pretzels are knot bread”

Pretzels are baked bread often—but not always—shaped into a twisted knot. “Why do people eat pretzels since they are knot food? (Pun of the Day)”—from the website Pun of the Day—was posted on the newsgroup alt.humor.puns on October 21, 2000.

“Pretzels are knot bread” is a pun that was posted to the newsgroup rec.games.roguelike.nethack on August 9, 2005. “I can’t believe pretzels are knot bread” was posted on Twitter on June 12, 2011.

“Pretzels are dough knots” is another oneliner about pretzels and knots.

Wikipedia: Pretzel
A pretzel (German: Brezel) is a type of baked bread product made from dough most commonly shaped into a twisted knot. Pretzels originated in Europe, possibly among monks in the Early Middle Ages. The traditional pretzel shape is a distinctive nonsymmetrical form, with the ends of a long strip of dough intertwined and then twisted back into itself in a certain way (“a pretzel loop”). Pretzels now come in different shapes.
