“I feel relatively neutral about New York” (slogan parody)

The “I Love New York” campaign of the 1970s featured the popular “I (heart) NY” T-shirts. “Now you can join the ‘I Feel Relatively Neutral About New York’ FB group” was posted on Twitter on December 16, 2008. “‘I feel relatively neutral about New York’ shirt” was posted on Twitter on January 25, 2009.

I Feel Relatively Neutral About New York (2011) is a book about New York City by Avery Monsen and Jory John. The book title and its cover design parody the “I Love New York” slogan.

I can’t imagine this image, or the thousands of parodies, ever not being part of the New York visual landscape – can you? You can’t go far without seeing somebody wearing the classic tee in England, especially in London. Though I’ve not worn mine for a few months, one of my friends regularly flaunts her ‘I Feel Relatively Neutral About New York’ version.

I feel relatively neutral about New York
Author: Avery Monsen; Jory John
Publisher: San Francisco : Chronicle Books, ©2011.
Edition/Format:   eBook : Document : English

Summary:
Have you ever loved something, but also totally not loved it at the same time’ Would you like to “heart” New York, but you’re not quite ready for that kind of commitment’ Have you ever had the feeling that other cities probably have pretty good pizza, too’ This light-hearted skewering of the Big Apple sets the record straight with semi-informed opinions, questionable charts, and some slapdash Photoshop work. On a scale from one to spectacular, we give New York a five. And after reading this book, we think you ll agree! Or whatever.
