“If all your troubles are behind you, you must be a school bus driver”

For a school bus driver, the problems often aren’t so much the traffic in front of the bus as are the children in the back of the bus. “If all your troubles are behind you, you must be a school bus driver” is a classic school bus driver joke, cited in print since at least 1999.

There’s an old joke among school bus drivers that became all too real for Dennis Williamson recently.

“They say all your troubles are behind you,” said the Dahlonega resident with a chuckle.

Normally, those troubles would consist of a few rowdy students in the back seats. But on one March afternoon, it became something much more serious.
