Instagirl (Instagram + girl)

“Instagirl” (Instagram + girl) is a female model who becomes famous through social media, especially selfie photos on Instagram. The cover of Vogue magazine in August 2014 used the term “The Instagirls” for Joan Smalls, Cara Delevingne, Karlie Kloss, Arizona Muse, Edie Campbell, Imaan Hammam, Fei Fei Sun, Vanessa Axente, and Andreea Diaconu.

Bella Hadid and Taylor Hill made the cover of Vogue Paris for the September 2016 issue, where they were called “Génération Instagirls.”

Wikipedia: Instagram
Instagram is an online mobile photo-sharing, video-sharing, and social networking service that enables its users to take pictures and videos, and share them either publicly or privately on the app, as well as through a variety of other social networking platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Flickr. Originally, a distinctive feature was that it confined photos to a square shape, similar to Kodak Instamatic and Polaroid SX-70 images, in contrast to the 4:3 aspect ratio typically used by mobile device cameras. In August 2015, version 7.5 was released, allowing users to post photos captured in any aspect ratio. Users can also apply digital filters to their images. The maximum duration for Instagram videos is 15 seconds.

The supermodel era is over. For its biggest issue of the year, Vogue has shunned its usual A-list Hollywood cover stars to instead introduce a new breed of top models: The Insta Girls.

The magazine’s iconic September issue features a fold-out cover starring models of the moment Joan Smalls, Cara Delevingne, Karlie Kloss, Arizona Muse, Edie Campbell, Imaan Hammam, Fei Fei Sun, Vanessa Axente, and Andreea Diaconu.

‘I don’t think there are supermodels now,’ admitted Miss Campbell in a behind-the-scenes video filmed by Vogue. ‘Insta Girls is the new generation… of us,’ added Miss Kloss, who has more than one million followers on Instagram.

Bella Hadid, Taylor Hill Dubbed Instagirls On Vogue Paris September Issue Cover
Aug 15, 2016 12:55 PM EDT By Britteny Dee
Bella Hadid and Taylor Hill are the cover stars of Vogue Paris’ September issue.

If the cover — which calls the models Instagirls — looks familiar to you, you’re not alone. It’s reminiscent of American Vogue’s September 2014 cover that starred nine lovely ladies who were dubbed Instagirls by the fashion glossy.
