“Keep Lubbock Flat”

“Keep Lubbock Flat” is another takeoff of the popular city slogan “Keep Austin Weird.” “Keep Lubbock Flat” dates from about early 2006.

The seemingly endless imitation Texas city slogans include “Keep San Antonio Lame,” “Keep Dallas Pretentious,” “Keep Dallas Plastic,” “Keep Dallas Douche,” “Keep Houston Dirty,” “Keep Denton Chido,” “Keep Abilene Boring,” “Keep College Station Normal,” “Keep Georgetown Normal,” “Keep Round Rock Mildly Unusual,” “Keep Wimberley Weirder” and “Keep Waco Wacko.”

Keep Lubbock Flat - Lubbock’s satirical answer to Austin’s “Keep Austin Weird” slogan.  After all, neither city could do anything to alter the truth of these slogans, even if they wanted to.  So whether you love Lubbock or love to hate Lubbock, this site is the headquarters for obtaining memorabilia that celebrates life in Lubbock, Texas… by poking a little fun at it.

Dixie Chicks’ new album for ‘people that want to hear’
NASHVILLE, TN Thursday—Entertainment Weekly reports that The Dixie Chicks are releasing their new album without expectations that country radio will play their music.

The trio reportedly addresses “the incident” (The 2003 UK comments about President Bush), on the song “Not Ready to Make Nice”—and a tune called “Lubbock or Leave It,” addresses radio’s boycotting of their music.

Lest anyone mistake it for an original thought, “Lubbock or Leave It” was a bumpersticker in the late 60s/early 70s,
IIRC.

I thought it was “Lubbock through my rearview mirror?”

That was the name/chorus of a Mac Davis song…but there was a bumpersticker that said “Lubbock or Leave It”, along with one featuring a flat line with a single-strand barbed-wire fence running above it that read “Ski Lubbock”. These days it’s “Keep Lubbock Flat” (a counter to “Keep Austin Weird”). Maybe we need “Keep Natalie in Austin” next.
