Lear Jet Liberal (Learjet Liberal)

“Lear jet liberal” (or “Learjet liberal”) is a more modern version of the 1969 New York City term, “limousine liberal.” A “Learjet liberal” might be a person who takes a private jet (not necessarily always a Lear) to attend a conference on global warming—damaging the enviroment while professing to save it. A Learjet liberal superficially supports liberal causes, as long as the sacriices apply to other people.

The term “Learjet liberal” is cited from 1998, but became popular in 2007 with the rise of the environmental movement and the Fox News Channel. Fox News host Sean Hannity often reports on “Learjet liberal” hypocrisy.

Similar terms include “living room liberal,” “latte liberal” and “SUV Democrat.”

Wikipedia: Learjet
Learjet is a manufacturer of business jets for civilian and military use. It was founded in the late 1950s by William Powell Lear Jr. as Swiss American Aviation Corporation. Learjet is now a subsidiary of Bombardier and marketed as the “Bombardier Learjet Family”.

Urban Dictionary
Lear Jet Liberal
A supposed enviornmental activist who it typical liberal hypocracy tells everyone else to ride their bike to cut down on pollution or to switch energy saving lightbulbs all the while they fly around in private jets and have houses with huge electric bills.
Al Gore proved himself to be a Lear Jet Liberal after his movie “An Inconvienent Truth” when it was discovered that he owns a private jet and his mansion in Tennessee uses as much energy in August alone as most other people do all year.

Lear Jet Liberal
Another Smear word created by the Far Right to demonize liberals. In the case of this baseless term, it is used to describe liberals as being hypicritical without looking at all the facts. If one was to dig deeper they would find that Liberals would jump at the chance to use a less polluting form of travel.
Since this a term created by Rush Limbaugh not all the facts where considered.

Before you use a term like Lear Jet Liberal why don’t you research all the facts and not make assumptions. Even though many Big politcal and enviromental advicates used private jets they would be the first to use a jet that did not use up so much fuel. The manufactures would make mopre fuel effishent jets.

President Clinton took a break from toil and turmoil recently to schmooze with a gaggle of Learjet liberals in the Hamptons.

If those 50% vote, and the birkenstock-wearing, NPR-supporting, Learjet liberals add their bleating voices, it’ll be Gore for the next eight years.

Washington Feels Hollywood’s Heat
By ALEX WILLIAMS
WASHINGTON
ON an 80-degree morning in mid-October, Senator Barbara Boxer huddled in a windowless conference room in her Capitol Hill office to hear from a group of fashionably dressed Southern California women whose sun-streaked blond hair and unseasonable tans belied a less-than-sunny mission: to push the government to address global warming.

And they are fully aware of the stereotype of the Learjet liberal, which is one reason the women said they flew commercially to Washington.

SEAN HANNITY, HOST: The Hollywood elite love to say they are so concerned about global warming. Now, they give concerts. They make movies and star in public service announcements - all in the name of saving the planet. But their private lives, well that tells a very different story.

The “Meltdown” comes to us from the Gateway Pundit blog. According to their Web site, former Vice President Al Gore wasn’t exactly greeted with open arms in Florida last week.

The Learjet liberal was the keynote speaker at a Going Green event in Boca Raton, and it turns out that those attending the lecture may have been outnumbered by the protesters outside.
