“Mothers are those wonderful people who can get up in the morning before the smell of coffee”

“Mothers are those wonderful people who can get up in the morning before the smell of coffee” is a one-line saying that has been printed on many images. “Mothers are wonderful people who can get up in the mornings before they smell bacon”—not “coffee”—was printed in many newspapers in 1934. The saying was printed in a syndicated newspaper column of “Quillen’s Quips” by American journalist and humorist Robert Quillen (1887-1948).

“Mothers are wonderful people. They can get up in the morning before they smell the coffee perking” was printed in newspapers in 1974.
