Teachers ask a lot of questions, prompting a student’s comic lament:
“My teacher doesn’t know anything. All she does is ask questions!”
The comic strip Gasoline Alley, by Frank King (1883-1969), had a student say about his teacher in a September 1927 strip, “She doesn’t know so much. All she does is ask questions.” The joke, with slightly different wording, is still being included in joke books.
