Parkie (resident of Park Cities of Highland Park/University Park)

A “Parkie” (also lower-case “parkie”) is a resident of the Park Cities—Highland Park and Overland Park. The name “Parkie” (sometimes representing affluent suburbanites) is often derogatory, but not always so.

The term “nauxparkie” (for a Dallas resident who wishes to live in the Park Cities) was entered into the Urban Dictionary in 2007, but has had sparse usage.

Wikipedia: Park Cities, Texas
Park Cities is a term commonly used in reference to two communities in Dallas County, Texas (USA) - the Town of Highland Park and the City of University Park. As of the 2000 census, the Park Cities had a population of 32,166 (though a July 1, 2005 estimate placed the population at 32,599).

The two municipalities, which are completely surrounded by the city of Dallas, are largely affluent and have some of the highest per capita incomes in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex as well as the state of Texas.

I am reading these comments throughly bemused. Such bile and venom spewed over some stupid ideas that were tossed out like yesterday’s garbage.

Yes there are idiots that live in the Park Cities (as there are in Dallas, Plano, Southlake etc…) - most of those who maintain that “Parkie” stereotype are posers anyway. And I hate that word.
