Patriotard (patriot + retard)

“Patriotard” (patriot + retard) is an epithet used by some on the politica left against the political right, especially those who carry American flags and attend tea parties. “Patriotard” has been cited in print since April 2003.

The word “patriotard” does exist in French (meaning someone who is excessively nationalistic), but the American slang word (using “retard” for a suffix) appears to be part of a slang trend in the 2000s.

Similar terms include “sheeptard” (since March 1999), “Republitard” (since April 2002), “rightard” (since January 2003), “Demotard” (since July 2003), “GOP tard”/“GOPtard” (since July 2004), “libtard” (since July 2004), “leftard” (since August 2004), “wingtard” (since October 2004), “neotard” (since May 2002), “conservatard” (since November 2005),  “truthtard” (since October 2006), “ecotard” (since July 2007), “climatard” (since December 2008), “teatard” (since March 2009), “crumbtard” (since May 2011) and “occutard” (since October 2011).

The United States of Amnesia, by Carlos Fuentes
Le Monde, April, 3rd, 2003
Without France, the United States would not exist.
The wise firmness of France, can open the prospect for a world order founded on the right. The United States seems to want to be unaware of it. The ridiculous francophobia developed by the most ignited North-American patriotards proves especially that the super power would sometimes deserve to be called “the United States of Amnesia”.

These two people, Victor Thorn and Lisa Guliani, are allies of ours and a strong connection between patriotard and white nationalism. They recently suggested that a solution to this Iran situation is to nuke Israel. The way they speak is not from the emotional side like Hal Turner, but intellectual.
