“A father is a man who expects his son to be as good a man as he meant to be”

“A father is a man who expects his son to be as good a man as he meant to be” is a saying that has been printed on many images. “A father is a man who expects his son to be as good a man as he meant to be” was printed in “Country Parson,” a one-panel comic strip by Frank A. Clark (1911-1991), in many newspapers on February 7, 1973.

Wikipedia: The Country Parson
Country Parson, a series of one-panel syndicated newspaper cartoons, always featuring a short aphorism or observation (modeled in part on the original anonymous Country Parsons’ writings), created and written by Frank A. Clark (1911–1991) of Iowa, illustrated by Wally Clark and later Dennis Neal, running from the late 1950s through the 1970s.
