Texas Trifecta (Dallas, Houston, San Antonio/Austin)

“Texas Trifecta” can mean any three things that are Texas-related. “Texas Trifecta” has been used to refer to three Texas cities—Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio or Austin. When NBA basketball teams go on a Texas road trip, they play a “Texas Trifecta” of the Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs.

Other names for the three-city “Texas Trifecta” include ‘Texas Triangle” (or “Golden Triangle”) and “Texas Three-Step.”

Wikipedia: Trifecta
In horse racing terminology, a trifecta is a parimutuel bet in which the bettor must predict which horses will finish first, second, and third in exact order. The word comes from the related betting term, “perfecta”. A trifecta is known as a Tiercé in France and Hong Kong.

That would complete what many UT fans call the Texas Trifecta which consists of a UT win followed by an A&M and OU loss. I don’t know about you but that certainly sounds like the perfect recipe for a Happy New Year!

Celtics still searching for first road win

What’s most puzzling about the Celtics’ road woes is that they played so well while living out of their suitcases during the regular season. They won almost everywhere, even blowing through San Antonio, Houston and Dallas to win consecutive games in a rare Texas-three step of wins.

It was the first time Boston had won three in a row in the Lone Star State since 1987, and the Celts became the first team to nail the Texas trifecta since the Sacramento Kings in 2001.

Second of the Texas Trifecta tonight, in Dallas! Or rather Grand Prairie, a suburb between Dallas and Fort Worth. Regardless, its Texas and thats what counts.
