“There are more important things than money, but they won’t date you if you don’t have any” is a jocular line about money and dating that has been cited in print since at least 1962. Authorship is unknown.
 
“IS MONEY the most important thing in life, Woody Allen?...‘No. There are more important things than money. The only problem is they won’t date you if you don’t have any’” was cited in print in 1982. However, Brooklyn-born comedian, film director and actor Woody Allen is unlikely to have originally said the line without any credit in print until 20 years later.
