“You are at your most vulnerable when you have just scored” (soccer adage)

“You are at your most vulnerable when you have just scored” is a popular saying in soccer. A team that has just scored often gets overconfident and plays soft for a few minutes. “As the saying goes, ‘a team is at its most vulnerable when it has just scored’” was cited in print in 1995. It’s not known who first said the soccer adage.
