Bridal Building
The Bridal Building is in the Garment District (or, Fashion Center) at 1385 Broadway, by 38th Street.

The name "Bridal Building" itself isn't that old, but bridal wear has been in the Garment Center since it became the Garment Center.

Brides on a budget will find everything they need for their wedding-day wardrobes in this 24-story building. The designer showrooms here generally sell to the trade, but most will furnish private customers with dresses at deep discounts. You can also find photographers, florists, limo services, and videographers here. Call for a list of vendors. By appointment only, except Saturdays

Rehabilitation in the Garment District
By ANTHONY DePALMA

To many people, the towers standing side by side on the corner of Seventh Avenue and 37th Street in the heart of New York's garment district were long known as the Bridal Buildings because they were occupied almost exclusively by wedding fashion showrooms.

Bridal companies suffered through the 1960's and 1970's, however, and now they occupy only 30 percent of the 198,000 square feet of space in the two buildings at 491 and 499 Seventh Avenue.

2 June 1986, New York Times, pg. D12:
Claudia Dowling, a marketing director from Long Island who is getting married in August, estimated that she saved $200 to $300 on the dress she bought for $550 in the bridal building.

In the past, retailers have tried to hold on to their market by ripping out manufacturers' labels - which would lead the brides to 1385 Broadway - and refusing to sell accessories without the dresses.

24 December 2000, New York , City section, FYI column, pg. CY6:
The Bridal Building, which offers similar wares, remains at 1385 Broadway, at 38th Street, in the garment district.
