"Brooklyn Eats!" began in 1997 with a borough dining guide and a few restaurants providing samples. It's now become a large annual event.

Brooklyn Eatsâ„¢ 2004 is a Success!
The 8th Annual Brooklyn Eatsâ„¢ Tasting Event held on Monday, October 18, 2004, at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge was the most successful event ever. There were unlimited tastings for more than 800 food, wine and beer enthusiasts! 68 restaurant owners and chefs participated.
The 9th Annual Brooklyn Eatsâ„¢ Tasting event is scheduled for Monday, October 17, 2005, at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge. Brooklyn Eatsâ„¢ has grown steadily since its premiere event in 1997, and garners more media excitement and attention every year:
1997 — 20 restaurants
Launch of the 1st Annual Brooklyn Eatsâ„¢ presented by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce at Lepercq Space, Brooklyn Academy of Music for 200 food enthusiasts. Brooklyn Eatsâ„¢ is a food, wine and beer tasting festival presenting Brooklyn's best foods and beverages.
Launch of the 1st Edition of Brooklyn Eatsâ„¢ —The Guide to Brooklyn Restaurants, the first ever comprehensive dining guide to Brooklyn.

Brooklyn Eats is the title of a 130-page, pocket-size guide to 200 borough restaurants. Written by Margaret Daly and produced by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, it will be officially launched next week. Available at booksellers for $12, it can be ordered by calling (718) 875-1000.

Brooklyn Eats, now in its third season, was launched by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce to showcase the culinary treasures found throughout the borough - and to celebrate the publication of its dining guide, "Brooklyn Eats: The Guide to Brooklyn Restaurants" ($12.95).
It has grown along with the borough's culinary industry, which now includes developing restaurant rows on Old Fulton St. downtown, on Smith and Court Sts. in Boerum Hill and Carroll Gardens, and on Eighth Ave. in Sunset Park, in addition to the well-established restaurant scenes in Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst, Sheepshead Bay and Park Slope.
"When we first started this in 1997, we had 10 restaurants offering samples," said Kenneth Adams, president of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce. "In 1998, we had 20 restaurants, and this year we had 33. Next year, we hope to add 15 to 20 more restaurants and attract at least 1,000 people."
