A “bureauweenie” (bureaucrat + weenie) is an unflattering name for a bureaucrat, with “weenie” meaning someone who is weak and unimportant. The term is usually given in plural (“bureauweenies”) to describe the employees of a government agency or division and not a particular person. The term can also be spelled as “bureau weenie” and “bureau-weenie.”
 
“Bureauweenie” has been cited in print since at least August 2004.
