Lieberal (lie + liberal)

“Lieberal” (lie + liberal) is a derogatory nickname for a liberal, used by those who believe that liberal values and liberal ideas are lies (or that liberal politicians lie). The term “lieberal” appears to have been popular in Canada since at least 2000; American usage of “lieberal” also dates to at least 2000.

By Joseph A. Gamero

Lately it has become obvious even to the staunchest Liberal supporter, that the government cannot be trusted. The nickname of LIEberals was earned one millimetre at a time, during the last few decades.

Take on the ‘lieberals’

To fully comprehend liberalism, one must fully understand deception. For that is what contemporary liberalism has become—one long series of clever deceptions.

Liberals—more “progressives” and rank socialists than anything remotely resembling liberalism’s original meaning, rooted in free individuals and the free markets required to sustain them—will dismiss such a contention as “more conservative bloviating.”

Hardly. The proof surrounds us early and often in this new year.

Perhaps calling liberals “lieberals” is a good place to start the fight.
