“A breakfast of champions means something entirely different to a cannibal”

“Breakfast of Champions” has been the slogan of Wheaties cereal from 1933. Menudo (a Mexican soup) has also been called the “breakfast of champions.” To a cannibal, however, “breakfast of champions” might mean something different.

“Why did the cannibal eat an Olympic athlete every morning? So he could have a breakfast OF champions…” was posted on Twitter by Samuel M. Wright on February 26, 2010. “What if a breakfast of champions was a cannibal feast?” was posted on Twitter by Not So Dry Pete on October 19, 2012. “‘Breakfast of champions’ means something very different to a cannibal” was posted on Twitter by Gabe Romero on July 18, 2015. “A breakfast of champions means something entirely different to a cannibal” was posted on Reddit—Oneliners on July 14, 2021.

Unless you are a cannibal, and you have eaten Michael Jordan or even Champ Bailey, you’ve not had a Breakfast of Champions.

As a cannibal, the phrase “breakfast of champions” implies that you ate champions for breakfast
