“A grandmother is a babysitter who watches the kids instead of the television” is a saying that has been printed on many images. “Description: ‘A grandmother is a baby-sitter who watches the baby instead of TV’” was written by syndicated columnist Bert Bacharach in the Akron (OH) Beacon Journal on May 15, 1962.
 
“White House bartender Bob Lee said it: ‘A grandmother is a babysitter who watches children instead of TV’” was printed in the Minneapolis (MN) Morning Tribune on June 2, 1964. “DANNY THOMAS’ definition: ‘A grandmother is a baby-sitter who watches the children instead of the television set’” was printed in the Philadelphia (PA) Daily News on June 11, 1964. “Grandmother A baby-sitter who watches the kids instead of the television set” was printed in the book The Successful Toastmaster (1966) by Herbert Victor Prochnow.
