“A runner walks into a bar…” (bar joke)

“A guy walks into a bar…” is a typical form of what has been called the “bar joke.” A running version is:

“A runner walks into a bar. The bartender asks, ‘Why the long pace?’”

“Why the long pace”” is a pun on the famous “Why the long face?” punchline of the “A horse walks into a bar…” joke. “A marathon runner goes into a bar, the bartender asks: why the long pace?” was posted on Twitter on October 13, 2010.
