Algebro (algebra + bro)

An “algebro” (algebra + bro) is a friend (usually male) who likes math (usually algebra). The term was popularized by the 2008 videogame Math Kickers: Featuring the Algebros.  An Urban Dictionary definition of “algebro” was posted on April 21, 2009.

“Algebro” has been used in a longer joke. “If two boys are studying algebra, what do you call them? Algebros!” was cited on Twitter on December 7, 2012.  “What do you call friends who love math? algebros” was cited on Twitter on September 10, 2013.

PAX: STRONG BAD AND THE MATH KICKERS
SEATTLE — THE second episode of Strong Bad’s Cool Game For Attractive People is down on the show floor at PAX (right when you walk in, actually), but I didn’t want to play it. I want to remain pure and unspoiled for its release next month.

That said, I did want to check out the second of the faux classic videogames that will be included in this episode. This one is called, to the best of my recollection, Math Kickers: Featuring the Algebros.

algebro
A friend who is good at math, and who will let you copy his answers, because he’s a bro, and that’s what bros do for other bros Usually AZN.
“Yo, Chan Lee, what is a variable?”
“How about you just copy my answers.”
“Thanks Chan, way to be an algebro!”
