Aluminati (aluminum + Illuminati, and jocularly associated with tinfoil hats)

“Tin foil hat” (from aluminum foil) is used as a stereotype for something worn by a conspiracy theorist, and several jokes mention the “Aluminati” (aluminum + Illuminati).

“Since when did the tin foil hats, become pointy? Is that a designer thing? The Keiser Willhelm line or something? Perhaps its a play on hats, like Aluminati/Illuminati?” was posted on the newsgroup alt.alien.research on January 19, 2003. “Then there are the Aluminati, who wear tinfoil hats as protection from orbital mind-control lasers” was posted on the newsgroup alt.slack on January 21, 2006. “Aluminati n. A group of people that believe Illuminati are watching them, and wear aluminum hats to protect themselves from radio waves trying to read their brain” was entered in the Urban Dictionary on October 27, 2014.

“I belong to the _Aluminati_. We control the tin-foil hat conspiracy crowd” was posted on Twitter by Trash Pandacoot on March 6, 2009. “Tinfoil hats are an invention of the Aluminati” was posted on Twitter by @aerikakeith on January 31, 2014. “The reason tinfoil hats work is because they foil the technology of the Aluminati” was posted on Twitter by Philip Tyson on September 20, 2019.

Wikipedia: Tin foil hat
A tin foil hat is a hat made from one or more sheets of aluminium foil (commonly called “tin foil” in the United States and New Zealand), or a piece of conventional headgear lined with foil, often worn in the belief or hope that it shields the brain from threats such as electromagnetic fields, mind control, and mind reading. The notion of wearing homemade headgear for such protection has become a popular stereotype and byword for paranoia, persecutory delusions, and belief in pseudoscience and conspiracy theories.

“Tin foil” is a common misnomer for aluminium foil; packaging metal foil was formerly made out of tin before it was replaced with aluminium.

Wikipedia: Illuminati
The Illuminati ( /ɪˌluːmɪˈnɑːti/; plural of Latin illuminatus, ‘enlightened’ ) is a name given to several groups, both real and fictitious.

A tinfoil hat will protect you from the #Illuminati, but it won’t protect you from the Aluminati.

Let me get this straight. So, the Aluminati are the ones secretly controlling everyone’s thoughts and behaviors, broadcasting their mental manipulations from their tinfoil hats…
