Ameritude (America + attitude)

The USA Freedom Kids performed on January 14, 2016 in Pensacola, Florida, at a political rally for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. To the tune of “Over There” (1917), they sang “Freedom’s Call” with the lyrics:

Ameri-tude…
USA!
American pride…
USA!
It’s attitude, it’s who we are
Stand up tall…

“Ameritude” (America + attitude) was trademarked with a first used on October 21, 2015. The word had been used only infrequently before 2016. “Come out and join me in celebrating our Ameritude!” was cited on Twitter on July 4, 2009.

For the 2016 cycle, the USA Freedom Kids’ rendition of “Freedom’s Call”—a pro-Donald Trump take on an old World War I propaganda anthem—is probably not that song.

The song contains such refrains as “Ameritude! (USA!) American pride! (USA!)”

The What & The Why
Ameritude
POSTED BY: DAVID WAYWELL 25TH JANUARY 2016
The portmanteau was new to me yet instantly familiar. Many times I’ve wanted to describe the uniquely American attitude but I didn’t have a suitable contraction by which to express it. Now I have and I’m sure that I will. Combining ‘America’ with ‘attitude’ produces ‘Ameritude’. It fits nicely in the mind. It somehow feels like a proper word.

I first heard the word shortly before Donald Trump appeared before an audience in Pensacola, Florida last week. Before he arrived on stage, we were entertained with a display of pure ‘Ameritude’ by a group of three young Rockettes known as the ‘Freedom Girls’. They performed the catchy little ditty called ‘Freedom’s Call’ that gifted the word to the world.

Ameritude! (USA!)
American pride! (USA!)
It’s attitude, it’s who we are, stand up tall.

USA Freedom Kids to sue Trump

You remember the USA Freedom Kids. The three preteen girls dressed in red white and blue who took the internet by storm in January when when they performed at a Donald Trump rally in Florida. The trio did a choreographed dance while lip-synching to a song to the tune of “Over There” with lines about Trump like, “Deal from strength or get crushed every time,” and “President Donald Trump knows how to make America great.” The Freedom kids even coined the term “Ameri-tude.”
