“An anteater walks into a bar…” (bar joke)

“A guy walks into a bar...” is a typical form of what has been called the “bar joke.” Anteaters have long noses, and there are three joke versions.

“Also...an anteater walks into a bar...The bartender says ‘so why the long face?’” was posted on the newsgroup aus.jokes on January 6, 1997. This is a variation of the popular version involving a horse: “A horse walks into a bar and the barman says, ‘Why the long face?’”

Another version was posted on the newsgroup alt.humor on May 6, 2002:

“An anteater walks into a bar and asks for a drink.’How about a beer?’ asks the bartender. ‘No-o-o-o-o-o-o’ ‘Then how about a gin and tonic?’ ‘No-o-o-o-o-o’ ‘A martini?’ ‘No-o-o-o-o-o-’ The bartender gets fed up and asks, ‘Hey listen, buddy, if you don’t mind my asking, why the long noes.’ (Richard Lederer and James Ertner)”

“An anteater walks into a bar. The bartender says, ‘Hey, why the dong face?’” was posted on Reddit—3amjokes on October 17, 2015.

I don’t get it :(

Original joke: Horse walks into a bar, the barman says “Why the long face”. Because horses have long faces.
In this case, the anteater has the big ant sucking tube that is penislike, so ‘why the dong face’ is a pun on the original joke
