“An infinite number of mathematicians walk into a bar…” (bar joke)

“A guy walks into a bar…” is a typical form of what has been called the “bar joke.” A popular math joke has been cited in print since at least 2008:

“An infinite number of mathematicians walk into a bar. The first one orders a beer. The second orders half a beer. The third, a quarter of a beer. The bartender says ‘You’re all idiots,’ and pours two beers.”

The bartender knows his math. “You’re all idiots!” is sometimes replaced with “Know your limits!”

“A mathematician walks into a bar and orders ten times the drinks of everyone else…” is another mathematician bar joke.

Worst math joke I’ve heard today
A joke that I’ve seen in several places today (first from my friend Karen): “An infinite number of mathematicians walk into a bar. The first one orders a beer. The second orders half a beer. The third, a quarter of a beer. The bartender says “You’re all idiots”, and pours two beers.”

I can “improve” this joke. An infinite number of mathematicians walk into a bar. The first one orders a beer. The second orders two beers. The third orders three beers, and so on. The bartender takes a twelfth of a beer from the first one and they all walk away happy.

Mathematician Madness

Infinite mathematicians walk into a bar. The first orders one drink. The second orders half a drink. The third orders a quarter of a drink. The fourth one orders an eighth of a drink.

The bartender pours two drinks and says “You mathematicians just don’t know your limits.”

An infinite number of mathematicians walk into a bar (self.Jokes)
submitted June 5, 2014 by Chuck_Schuldiner
The first one orders a beer, the second one orders a half a beer, the third orders a quarter of a beer, and this trend continues on for some time. After a while, the bartender gets fed up and hands them 2 beers, shakes his head and says, “You mathematicians just don’t know your limits.”

Pg. 284:
Here’s a joke that only mathematicians find funny. An infinite number of mathematicians walk into a bar. The first mathematician says, “I’d like one glass of beer.” The second mathematician says, “I’d like half a glass of beer.” The third mathematician says, “I’d like a quarter of a glass of beer.” The fourth mathematicians says, “I’d like an eighth of a glass…” The bartender shouts, “Know your limits!” and hands them two beers.
