“At my new job, I have hundreds of people under me. I mow the grass at the cemetery”

A person with many people under him/her usually has a responsible job. “At my new job, I have hundreds of people under me,” an old joke goes. “I mow the grass at the cemetery.”

The joke was printed in many newspapers in 1927.

submitted October 3, 2014 by 414gobears
It’s the dead center of town.
I hear people are dying to get in there.
I worked at a cemetery once. It was a dead end job.
I worked with a bunch of dead beats.
However, I did have a lot of people under me.
